They change power continuously from distance through intermediate to near vision without a visible segment line. Usable fields and peripheral blur vary with the prescription and selected design.

Can the design favor distance or near vision?

Yes. Far-priority, near-priority and balanced designs distribute usable fields differently. Selection should reflect the wearer’s main tasks and fitting conditions.

Are corridor lengths the same for every design?

No. Available corridors and minimum fitting requirements depend on the specific design and frame. The laboratory confirms compatibility from the complete order data.

Can progressive lenses use high-index or photochromic materials?

Compatible high-index, photochromic and coating options can be reviewed. For compatible low-reflection AR programs, an SDC technical service report recorded reflectance as low as 0.45% for a tested Heritage coating sample. This is a sample result, not a universal guarantee; availability and performance depend on the prescription, design, material, coating stack and test conditions.

Are office and anti-fatigue lenses the same as general progressive lenses?

No. Office designs prioritize selected near and intermediate working distances, while anti-fatigue lenses generally provide modest lower-zone support. Neither is automatically a substitute for a full general-purpose progressive prescription.

How do I request progressive lens samples?

Send the target prescription range, design priorities, material and treatment requirements, fitting information and destination market. The RX team reviews the requested program before confirming suitable samples.
